Anjie Coates is co-owner of Furry Tails, and started in the grooming industry in 1989. She’s a member of the New England Pet Grooming Professionals, President of the Massachusetts Association of Pet Professionals, the Association of Holistic Pet Professionals and is a Certified Pet Tech First Aid & CPR Instructor #2383, a Certified Master Rabbit Groomer, the first ever International Certified Master Cat Groomer through IPG, and a Certified Canine Esthetician. Every year for decades she has attended the New England Grooming Show and has a lifetime membership to Intergroom in New Jersey to continue her education and improve her skills in the grooming industry.
She has her Temporary Color & Accessory certification and enjoys airbrush coloring on the dogs. She has her Salon Sanitation certificate, as well as the IV San Bernard Skin and Coat Certificate, and The Science of Skin Learning Series, as well as Skin Assessment Certificate from Dr. Cliff Faver, and the ISCC Skin and Coat Certificate. She grooms the cats at Furry Tails, has a Compassionate Cat Grooming certification, and is an IPG International Certified Master Cat Groomer, as well as Master Holistic Feline Stylist from the state of New Hampshire. As the only Certified Master Rabbit Groomer in New England she also grooms the bunnies, and they always do very well with it. She's also a Master Rabbit Groomer from the state of New Hampshire. She won the ASPCA Humane Award in 2002 for her help in rescuing Woodsie the Beagle.
She shares her passion for grooming with other pet professionals when teaching classes for Pawsitive Educational Training. She also teaches at the Whole Pet Grooming Academy in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in order to help the next generation of groomers learn the best practices for the industry. She gives numerous online and in person seminars for groomers on cat, rabbit and small mammal grooming. Her favorite dog breed to give a haircut to is Bichons.
The Professional Groomer's Credentialing has approved her Salon Sanitation and her Customer Service and Customer Relations, Introduction to Rabbit Grooming, course as PGC Approved Education for Credentialed Groomers. She teaches at trade shows all over the US in order to help educate groomers across the country.
She is the author of "The Quintessential Rabbit Book".
Some of her passions in the industry are personal safety for all groomers, safe and compassionate holistic cat grooming, safe holistic rabbit grooming, and educating groomers on how to properly groom rabbits. She also prides herself on keeping her salon as clean and sanitary as you would hope any human spa would be, and would love to see this become the standard for every salon in the grooming industry.
She shares her life with her Pug PJ, and Alister, the kitty in shining armor on the Furry Tails logo. The female Pug was her Pug "G" who has passed on to the Rainbow Bridge.
